ATV/ATV Product Reviews and How To's

Replacing Rear U-Joints
by trailrider2

I went with aftermarket u-joints, the manufacturer is Neapco, Inc. The name on the box it comes in could be one of many. Mine said PDQ from Advance Auto. Where ever you get yours from the part number should be 1-1557. Around each. :) Jack the machine up, remove both rear tires and the differential protector. I mean that cheap piece of plastic under the diff. :tg: Next remove the rear brake caliper. Two bolts, 13mm. Manual says to not just let it hang. I set mine on the trailing arm.

Remove the bolt on the driveshaft @ the diff. 15mm. These boogers can be tight. A short length of pipe to slide over your wrench goes a long way.

Bulldog Tire Bonnets Review
by Outlandish

I've read a lot on these tie downs and decided to try them on a trip to Tennessee. I had to mount a d-ring behind one front tire and in front of the opposite rear and used the stake pockets for the outside anchors.

They consist of 2 cam-lock buckles and one ratchet. I have always been kind of leary of cam buckles after having one come loose on a cheap strap but these things held tight.

We loaded up the 4 ATVs and strapped them down. The other 3 used regular ratchet straps. First check was at 30 mile, all is good. Second around 200, 1 loose ratchet strap, Bulldogs still tight.

Actually in the 1150 miles we tightened ratchet straps several times but the tire bonnets never lost their grip and my Outlander never moved a bit.

The best thing about these straps is they hold the tires and don't compress the suspension like other tie downs.

Great product / Great price @ Bulldog ATV

Can-Am Renegade Review
by JDUDDING650

A few days after the last GNCC race, I was in my local Can-am dealership, Swampfox Motorsports, meeting Jimmie Odell for the first time. Jimmie is a district sales manager with Can-am, who also races the GNCC circuit from time to time. He also ran the Baja 1000 this year with Mike Penland.

Jimmie informed me that Can-am would be sending demo Renegades out to a six dealers across the country. Before being put into production, the demo units were going to be field tested for 2000 miles then returned to the factory.

After M&J Sales in Chapmanville, WV received the Renegade, Jimmie invited me to ride. M&J was selected partially because they are located near the trail head of the Hatfield McCoy Trail. A perfect proving ground for any machine.

Before I begin my review, I feel it is important to let you know my style of riding . My first year in racing in the GNCC circuit was 2006, unfortunately I was unable to run the entire series due to complications following a surgery.

During the season, I never finished lower than 5th place and finished as high as 2nd in the Utility Modified class. When I ride, I ride wide open. Typically on a practice track for a several hours two to three times a week.
