New on this forum, I tried another forum and never got an answer to this. I just bought a used 2003 Vinson and would like to know what oil and differential fluid I need to use on it. I never got a book with it and I also didn't get any tools with it. What is a good tool set to get for this ATV? Thanks in advance <===Lefty===:dan:

Lefty, I don't know what fluids you should use as I have a King Quad, but hopefully someone here can help you. If you don't get any help here you could try going to the  High Lifter site, I see a couple guys who own Vinsons posting in the Suzuki forum. That is if that was'nt the site you already tried.

As for the tool kit if you are going to be getting bags for it.  I went to sears and got a few basic items small metric 3/8th socket set, small wrench set, pliars, screwdrivers  the basics and put them in a flat Rubbermaid container, Plus I went to my local napa store and got tire plugging tools and plugs.  I got a 12v compressor from an online place.  I hate trying to use the knucklebuster tools they supply you, when broken down out on the trail. And nuttin sucks more than a flat tire 20 miles away from the truck. It all costed about 100 bucks.

Thanks for the replies. I did find a store that sells the Suzuki and or Honda 10W40 oil. I also got the Differential fluid I needed and now all I need to do is find some motorcycle Coolant so I can change the coolant in this thing. I am told that only motorcycle coolant at 50x50 mixture will work. I guess the Auto coolant has silicates in it and that could harm the water pump.

Hey Lefty, sorry for the delay.  I'm not sure about the diff fluid, but regarding the engine oil you have to use a oil that doesn't have the anti-friction additives in it.  You can't use regular automotive oil.  The Vinson has a wet clutch is why.  Its a pain in the rear if ya ask me.  There are several companies that make compliant oil.  The manufacturers oils (of course $$$), Silkolene, Amsoil, are just a couple off the top of my head.  Both Silkolene and Amsoil are quality oils.  I would go with 10w30 but that is up to your really.

You can go up to your local auto parts store and buy a Wix oil filter too. Its # 51359 . I hated getting ripped by the dealers when it came time to buy oil and filters!!!!
