Good friend of mine bought a brand new red grizzly last week, got the mattracks setup and everything, rode it around the block twice and the thing died on him, wouldn't restart... Any of you yamaha guys have any idea what the deal might be? Wasn't sure if this might be a batch of bad relays or fuses that he might be able to take care of himself. The quad is sitting at the dealer, but honestly i don't trust them as far as I can throw them. So if we can come up with a few things to check it might save him some heartache. For the record the symptoms are that the rig stalled, wouldn't restart. Engine cranks, lights, winch all work, but no go.. thanks ahead of time..

well, its looking like the problem had to do with the tracks. When shifting into park the switch in the tranny wasn't allowing the engine to be started. We are thinking the tracks put enough rolling resistance on the drivetrain that it wasn't allowing the shifter to actually go into park to start it. He brought it by the house today and he showed me what it was doing.. starts fine in neutral but every now and again in park, you have to do the outty hump to get the switch to allow starting. Not a big deal. and by the way, the thing goes through the snow like a snowshoe hare! Can't believe how much difference those tracks make. The power steering worked especially slick. the steering was still a bit heavier because of the tracks but a lot lighter than it could have been without the power assist. Nice rig... all it needs is a v-twin in it! :)

So when it warms up Ill be currious to hear how his tracks do in the mud.  I've drooled over the MatTracks for a while and I aggree with power steering the Grizz seems like a natural for tracks :)

spoke with the tech that worked on his rig last week and he said the fix for the initial problem was to reposition the roll sensor. I guess a few of the quads during a certain run had the roll or tip sensors installed backward. My buddy doesn't have the mattracks.. i mispoke. But i can't recall which ones they are.. nice setup though. These ones are cheaper than the mattracks..

http://www.camoplast.com/en/

here is the link to the company that makes the tracks he is running... saw him help pull a full size truck out of a drift with them on..of course my quad was pulling to. But they held up fine, and would go through anything..
