ANWR is nothing but barren tundra. Don't believe what the teee huggers tell ya about how beautiful it is up there!!! The caribou don't give a :pod: if we drill there either. They actually bed down under the existing pipelines because it's warm there.

Tree huggers will lie as much as needed to further their agendas. The sad part is most people believe them because they just don't know any better. Don't be fooled!

John McCain agrees with the Democrats on this issue. He does not want and will not approve drilling in the US or off shore. I went to his website today and sent him/his staff an e-mail voicing my dispproval of his stance on this subject. I can live with the rest of his opinions on most subjects but I strongly disagree with this one. Damn it is going to be hard to cast a vote in November. Rest assured Obama won't get my vote and quite frankly, I am losing interest in McCain. The US is a very strong country but I am beginning to wonder what life is going to be like for my sons and grand kids.

QZ.. the problem with our choices this fall is that if we don't vote for McCain then its almost a vote for Obama. Meaning, the folks that vote for a third candidate are basically taking away from the "better" choice, notice I didn't say "best". I too do not like the choice we as conservatives have been given, but unfortunately we are stuck with the two party system. If more folks were active and we could have a viable third party candidate that was a true conservative, I would be all over that. Its funny, after the last election cycle where the GOP lost all those seats in congress.. you would have thought they would have changed their tack a bit..

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Newt Ginrich run as an independent. He has some baggage but most of it is already known.

Just wanted to bump this back to the top. If you haven't signed the petition, please think about it. By the way, I sent an e-mail to McCain's official site regarding this issue and haven't heard back yet. Guess I shouldn't expect a reply.

Good job.:thumb2:

Even tho if they started to drill here and now, it'll be dependant on the refinery capacity, from what I v'e read.

I like to think there's a BIGGER picture that we're just not seeing of why they don't want to drill here.

My thought is that the Gov. wants to save our oil reserves in case something catastrophic happens to our current import supplys. Can't even imagine what
that would do to this country.

Granted it would take a long while before we could bring our own reserves to the pump but that's still better than having nothing coming in.

Signed ............... We need to show congress who is boss. This is all about money and the investors in gas futures are as much too blame as any. Hell the the oil companies are making record profits. I say the gov put a cap on gas prices and open up all the drilling possibilities as well as push alternative energy.:2cent:

Effer, I can see your point except for one thing...

I saw an article the other day that was very interesting...It seems that the Republican congress asked the Dept. of the Interior to do a study a short while ago to go out and actually tally up just how much oil is actually in the ground under US soil and in the 12 miles of offshore which we consider US waters...the results are amazing...

The report found 139,000,000,000 (yes Billion with a B) barrels of oil on approx. 279,000,000 acres of land. This amount of oil can power the US for 200 years at current demand...plenty of time to get alternate forms of energy produced and perfected...

There was one small problem with the basis of the report though, almost all of the oil found was located under Federally owned lands, which means we can't drill on it...I am of the opinion the entire Federal government is made up of ignorant dumda$$es who don't give a rats rear end about anything but the paycheck they receive each week and the agendas and deals they have made with lobbyists and other politicians...It's all a big power trip that we as consumers have to bear...I say get rid of all of em and start over with normal hardworking Americans who haven't forgotten the other 300 million of us who don't live on Capitol Hill!!!

You mean a government "by the people, for the people" type of thing, what a concept.

It sounds like the movement has recieved some attention finally. Bush, Grist and McCain (a little bit) have now spoken in favor of oil exploration. The liberals are going to scream bloody murder and try to block this any way they can and for as long as they can. Again, if you have not signed the petition, please do. The count is up to 950,000 +/-. An e-mail to your Senetor and Congressmen, regardless of their party affiliation  expressing your support will also go a long ways. Thanks
