My wife and I are avid geocachers in addition to avid ATVers. Anybody else like to spend their time using Billion Dollar Military Satellites to search for tupperware filled with mctoys hidden in the woods?

Never done the geocaching, but I've been to the website and it looks fun. But I do use the billion dollar satellites to find property corners every day, only difference is our gps systems cost 45,000 plus.:thumb2:

There is quite a bunch in SW WY doing geochaching - a few ATV-ers. KC7YM does it quite often and has discovered many and has quite a few of his own caches. Have forwarded this to him so he can put in his 0.02.  I work at an underground mining operation which uses advanced gps units to survey subsidence induced by our caving underground. I WILL get a GPS soon I hope. Would like to use it in conjunction to APRS radio communication with my ham radios.

That sounds like fun, I love going into mines and caves. Several years ago I tried to get a job at a company that was mapping a bunch of the old sewer systems under Minneapolis and St. Paul. So if I move up there ya gonna get me a job. I promise I'll get my directions right!:roflao:

I get bored with all the Subdivisions and street and utility staking.

Am an Ex-Yooper, being in WY since '81. Lived longer here! both great, but different places. Miss the water and trees but NOT the endless spring melting all that snow and the fierce bugs in early summer. Mountains are super here - high desert is charming too. Work in the desert - play in the mountains. GPS is really a benefit here - tag along with fellow ham KC7YM who is pretty darn good with it. Use Trimble system at work. Keep pluggin - the perfect job is out there!
