Has anyone heard anything about bad effects on mech's and drivers of diesel mass transit buses?

About 10-12 years ago I was garage 3rd shift Supervisor in a satellite indoor garage with 300+ diesel buses that all pulled out in a one hour period. I spent much of the morning pullout breathing fumes. There was no mention from the company about sulphur in diesel fumes.

Had a massive heart atttack and 5 way bypass about then, and now I hear I have "spots" on my lungs. Surgeon for by-pass was surprised when he asked me if I smoked and I answered "never". Apparently he saw lung irregularities even back then.

I'm wondering if I should see an attorney about a lawsuit? I retired in 2002 at 62 and making the company mad doesn't concern me anymore.

It definately sounds like there might be some validity to your concerns.  It would certainly be worth checking into I would think.

If you can find a couple more guys in your situation your odds of winning will go up dramatically.

It will take atleast 5 years in the courts to settle, out of court about 3.

If you can find a good lawyer that will work on comission (he'll take 60+%).

I have a relative that just settled a 1.1 million car accident suit, took 6 years and she got 300k in her pocket (and had to sign away all future claims[bad idea, she's had 4 surgeries]). :2cent:

About 4 years breathing "pull-out" fumes for 2 hours a morning, 4 days a week. :pu:

Total at company 12 years. Didn't know attorneys charge 60%. Wow. I figured about 30%.

Appreciate the advice received.

Not sure exactly what the attorney rate is, but you know that it is not going to be cheap. Down side is that you don't have much of a choice other than getting a high price attorney. Otherwise whoever you try to sue will have their attorney bog you down in legal papers that you don't have a clue about.

Hope it all works out Turbo!!!
