My stranded wire winch cable frayed and broke and i'm contemplating replacing it with synthetic winch rope/cable.

Anyone have any experience with the synthetic stuff good or bad?

Never used it but if it does break you can repair it. Read this

I've been very happy with mine. I ruined two steel cables first. :puke:  I'm even happier now knowing that it can be fixed if I cut it.:dan:

Are you using a polished aluminum fairlead or the roller type?

The only reason i wouldn't replace the stell cable with the synthetic rope/cable is if you have to switch the fairlead out.

Your suppose to use a non-roller type fairlead with synrope. :2cent:

Generally referred to as, Hawse, fairleads. :2cent::2cent:

I left the factory rollers on. Yes, they say to change it out.

I think you would really have to hit it at some odd angle to do any damage. The majority of my winching is usually pretty simple. I haven't had any reason to be worried yet. Hopefully, I will never have to eat those words.
