Hey all !  Just a quick question. Is it neccessary to run the optimizer with the HMF utility series slip on exhaust ? I read in the HMF forums that if you run in cooler environments it could do some damage ? Aslo does LTE have a similar product for their slip on's.

Maybe Northern Bomb Man could shed some light on the subject, because I know how cold it gets in PA.

I am NOT an expert, but I DO recommend getting a controller/optimizer to compensate the difference.... If you search around you will find various write-ups on adding the HMF with NO controller... My conclusion was to GET one...
Hence the HMF and Dynatek Power Commander i got for it!!!!

Hi... sorry for not posting my machine info. lol   I have an 09 800R XT, and I would like to install an HMF utility series slip on, and optimizer if needed.

The reason I'm a little skeptical about the optimizer, is water proofing issues. I like the deep stuff and there are alot of creek and small river crossings in my area.

What I have seen thus far is the .....09's do run leaner than previous year models and if you have a HMF or any other aftermarket exhaust, then you will need a Fuel Addition unit.... and The PCIII is the most versatile.....

CC1999 had his 09 800 dynoed with a Aftermarket exhaust and it was on the lean side... I believe around 14:1...and he is putting the PCIII on it to bring it back down to around 13:1 ....

SO YES...You need the PCIII with the HMF...
