There is a simple substitute for heated grips. For those of us that may only go out in cold weather a couple times a winter, there is a product that you just wrap around your grip, secure with a (2) rubber bands or zip-ties, and it stays warm for the entire day and they are cheap ($5.00 pr) and reusable.

If you really don't need electrically warmed grips, check out http://www.stageoneproductions.com/hotrods/warmpks.html

It sure beats $60+ for heated grips that you maybe never use. Just throw a couple packs in your trunk.

Don't know how it works, but their ad says they're reusable. Got small ones to put inside your boots, too.

I wouldn't think they would work too well wrapped around grips.  Its a powder that undergoes a reaction when exposed to air.  Remove, and feel the warmth.  They are widely available around here, unless I'm mistaken and these are somethin different.  I'm surprised they don't sell them in Wisconsin.

I can't see how they'd be reusable either. Latest magazines have leather gloves with a pouch for a heating packet. Maybe like the Jonee pocket heating thingees they had 40 years ago.

Not going to worry anymore about heated grips. Ordered an enclosed trailer today and it will be 3-4 weeks before it gets here. Traded in my Aluma open trailer.

Got the rear Max rear trunk today ($314). Like on a pickup truck. It's got a padded backrest for the driver that secures to the front of the box for the driver to lean against. I might go to a auto upholstery shop and have a thicker matching backrest (like the Max's passenger backrest's nice contour). But I'll have it made thicker and softer so it reaches my back easily.

It's gonna be at least 3 weeks until I'm back in business so heated grips are low priority. Next is sending out both exhaust headers for coating. Nobody makes a muffler for a Max yet.

Ill have to find the thing that i have. it is pretty similar to what is pictured but a bit bigger. It puts out a lot of heat too and is reusable. It is blue. When is spent, it turns rock hard and then all you do is put it in a boiling pot of water for a few minutes til it turns back to a liquid. Then it stays room temp til you are ready to use it again. There is a lil thing that is suspended in the liquid and al you do is flex it when you want it to get hot. Its almost impossible to get this thing to flex unless you want it to b/c it is so small. Ill see if i can find a link

There is also the one time use hand warmers you can get at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. for about $2. Check the sporting goods section.
