Anybody using two-way radios or walkie talkies on the trails? Considering Midland Walkie Talkies with headsets from Ebay. They have to be easy to use as I'll be in communication with my 6 year old grandaughter on her own machine.

Obvious problem with handheld devices, you have to stop to use. Vox operated headsets would be the way to go ,BUT $$$ for some good ones.

There have been a few discussions on this not too long ago.

my cobras have VOX. they are actually pretty nice. the 12 mile ones have 10 weather channels too. I chose em cause they had all the features the more expensive sets have. you can wear a headset or earbud with em under yer helmet. they are rechargeable with a base to set em in when at home. they can use reg AA batteries too. which is cool if yer going to be out a couple or more days. plus they are cheap. I have enough radios for everyone I ride/hunt with :)

most all of the radios you are looking at are easy to use. and most all have a button lock so you cant easily change the channel. a major plus in the hands of us grown ups :) ... if you forget how to take the lock off just hand it to her and tell her what you need done LOLOL
