We are heading south to hit a few dunes in spring time and I am looking for a good GPS that will work on and off road.  Run 12 volt and small enough to mount on the handlebars of a quad.  Anyone have a suggestion or good experience.  Thanks for the info!!

I have the one above and works great on the trails.. It is marine rated for being waterproof and chemical resistant...  You have to buy separate software for Detailed street maps...

Garmin 60Csx is the one I have. Easy to use, fantastic antenna, and very rugged. I've used mine in rain, sleet, snow... dropped it, sunk it, buried it in mud... generally just abused the crap out of it. It's never dropped a signal or given me a moments trouble.

It's not always great when navigating roads, but that's a mapping issue, and not device specific. I don't like the Garmin maps. I find they have a lot of errors, and aren't updated nearly often enough.

I have a Garmin 60 cs and a Rino 530. Both are really good units. I like the 60cs better than the Rino. Just easier to work with gloves on.

Also the 60cs you can plug a DC power cord into it and have constant backlighting / charging while riding. The Rino you cant run a DC cord on while in the Garmin mount. It has to be charged off the handlebar mount. Other  mounts you may be able to charge while riding.

The 60cs I have had for 2 years and has been excellent.

The Rino works very well also.. It also has the added bonus of being able to track other Rino users. You can ping them on the gps and find out where they are. Cool feature.

I have the Lowrance H2Oc, it's agood GPS just not easy to use, lots of set-up and a little too complicated/overkill for ATV use, IMO.

I'd buy a Garmin if I was gonna use it alot, maybe someday.

I like the https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=310. Little smaller and sounds like it will take good abuse and a bit cheaper. Now where is the best place to buy? Any of our vendors carry them?

I have the Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx and love it. I bought it from http://www.prairie.mb.ca/product/010-00560-00.php

wonderful people to deal with, fast, freindly service and very good deals!!!

What I really liked with buying at a place like this, if you run into problem, they are just a call away!
