Heading up to the hunting camp in October to do some fishing, 4wheeling and skeet shooting. Can't hunt cause I don't have a licence yet! Wondering what everyone else uses for lures. I have got a couple of monsters on a 1 oz black marabou jighead with a white 4" twister tail on our lake, which is weird because that is more of a salmon or trout rig. Any other favorites?

That was in the late 80's though, wouldn't try that now! My grandfather used to talk about blasting to get fish when he was in the Navy in WWII.

uSED TO MANAGE A HUNTIN AND FISHING DEPT IN A LARGE SPORTING GOODS STORE CALLED GALYANS.   WON A TRIP TO WOLLESTON LAKE ALL ESPENSE PAID.  When I got there I was basically a poor redneck in the midst of millionaires.  Well I pulled out a good ole mepps aglia in fire tiger color and proceeded to catch 5 pickerel/pike in about an hour and the smallest fish was 44 inch.  biggest was about 48.  granted it was a fabulous fishery but sometines smaller lures are more productive than the really big uns that many people think are necessary to catch big fish.  good luck on your trip.

When I was going to school up in the Ely Mn area a roommate took me down to Duluth and we went smelting. Just walking around in the water with nets and getting buckets of them. Slit the belly and cut the head off and then you could deep fry them or whatever you wanted. It was fun and a cool experience.

I bet there was no beer drinking involved

Mepps spinners for pike and Rebel med to deep divers for bass. If all else fails, forget the dynamite. Find a small pond and dump some HTH in it. The fish will jump in the boat.
