While doing some repairs after a roll-over, I found an interesting fix to concerns over battery protection on the right side of the Outlander 800 and 650.  The aluminum shield attached to the left side battery cage is reversible to add to the right side.  If you order one from your dealer, or fabricate one, there are already holes in the cage on the right side and you just need to use the correct screws to fasten it.  Also a good idea to cable tie your battery down and not trust that rubber OEM strap completely.

Hi Wessen-Do you mean the compartment under the rear cover, where the tool kit goes?  I think some guys have actually located a second battery in there as an add-on to the primary battery.  Not sure how it would have to be connected in order to get recharged, though.

I fabbed one for my battery and have pics in my photo album.

I have not finished the hold down for it yet so the rubber strap is all that I have.:pu:
