The Works Shocks Pro G Series triple rate springs came in yesterday and I installed them today! Here they are out of the box. Here is a description from works site. "G Series Works' G Series is a gas emulsion shock equipped with 5/8-inch induction-hardened high-tensile chromed alloy shafts, heat dispersant mil-spec coating, anodized billet aluminum parts, and Threaded pre-load (Tpl) as standard features. Built to take on punishment. " The stock ground clearance with my 25in bighorns with 5.5 psi had 10 1/4 inches in front and 11in in the rear. This was with the suspension pulled up. After I sat on it and let it set in the front had 9 1/2 inches and the rear was unchanged. With the Works shocks I had 10 1/4 inches in front and 10 inches in rear after sitting on the quad. Again, this was with 25in bighorns and 5.5 psi. Obviously if you’re looking to gain ground clearance the Works shocks are not for you even though I gained 1/2 in in front but I lost 1in in rear. The quad sits level now which is nice. The works shocks come with about 1 1/2 to 2in of sag built in both front and rear. The preload can be adjusted to get about 3/4in of more GC if desired but that would stiffen up the ride alot. The installation is very easy with only two bolts per shock to remove. I started by jacking the quad up and removing all the tires then removing the shocks and installing the new Works shocks. Put the tires back on and you’re good to go. I used red loctite on the nuts for good measure. They sure do look good! Here are some installation pictures. Finished product Here are some pictures of the stock vs. Works shock comparison. Rear stock shocks 2006 Can Am Outlander Max 650 Works shocks, 25in Bighorns, Ricochette skids, XT bumpers hand quards, Gorilla 3000lb sealed winch. Why I purchased Works Performance Shocks. I purchased the shocks so I could ride more aggressively and needed shocks that would eliminate the front end nose diving and crashing down when going over woops and to eliminate body roll when going around corners. I use my quad for only trail riding. I don’t take it mudding other than what is in the trail and the same with rock crawling. I have past experience with both works and Elkas along with Fox Racing shocks so I understand what high end shocks should give you. I feel confident knowing I can get the works rebuilt from Works. They also have great quality and research and development in there shocks because that’s all they do. My past experiences with them have been great also. I know I wont have any mechanical failures because of there shocks and the ride quality will be great with them. They also ware very well and are a great looking shock. Not to mention resale value will be higher on them. As far as cost I have triple rate Works shocks all round for under $1100 and dual rate Crutchfields would be $1400. I could get Elka's for that price and they are quadruple rate with more adjustability or works with remote rezzies. To sum it up IMO i get a better quality, better performing, and better looking, all around shock for less cost. The best way to describe the difference between the works and the stock shock is that now my skill set and trail conditions are the limiting factor on how fast I can ride through the trial and not the quad. That is exactly how it should be. I should be the weekest link! On average i can ride 10 to 15 mph faster through the same section with these shocks over stock shocks. They give an increible smooth ride ride like the stock shocks at slow speeds but without as much of the nose diving and no body roll going around corners. Its when you start picking up the speed you will really notice the difference in shocks. You will be saying to yourself "oh my god, I cant believe im riding this fast and not getting thrown off" JDudding move over here i come!
