Well, I'm making an appointment at the dealer for some warranty work done, and it's going to cost me $50. The boot on my 4wd switch is torn and getting fixed, I'm going to have them shut off my service engine light (since I do most everything myself) I mentioned about the CVT bulletin. What else should I have done? Since I got it, the only thing that I have had the dealer do is HD springs under warranty. Should I do anything with the computer reflash? I guess I'm looking to get all I can get out of $50!  Hahaha

I think he's talking about maintence soon message. Mine came back on at about 1200 miles and its staying there untill there is a major problem that requires a dealer.

My outlander was in the dealer for some warranty work, so while it was in i told them to clear the maintaince light assuming there would be no charge i go to pick it up and he says $37 to clear the light plus the $50 deductible. Well I could believe it was $37 just to clear a message, but i argued that since he had to put a new speedometer in I was gonna pay the $37 to clear the light on the old speedometer. It also cost $40 to have a new key programmed. just wondering if all dealers are like this.

I just took my bike in last weekend to have the Service Soon message cleared, I do all of my own Maintenance, my dealer never charges me for this 2 minute service...but I have purchased 4 ATV's and 2 Sea-Doo's from him...he knows better than to even ask...HeHe...

He only charged me 12 bucks for a new key as well...said it was his cost...whatever...

Like many guys on here, sounds like you need to find a new dealer...

Yeah they just completly replaced the speedo cause moisture cause mal-function. I jsut couldnt believe that they wanted to charge $37 just to clear the maintance light, and $40 to program a key plus another $40 for the actual Key. thats $80 for a spare key. My next closest dealer is 1.5 hours away but they may be worth it. plus they take forever on any warranty work. If I can fix it for less than $100 i dont even bother with the dealer and warrantyu.

Red, what dealer are you using? Google says 1 hour 14 minutes from Lancaster to Lake Norman Power Sports. Is that the one you are referring to? I have never paid a $50 deductible or paid to clear the maintenance light.

No, you can't change the speedo, dealer only.

Im using alpha motorsports in Rock Hill, SC. there about 1/2 mile from my work so it extremely convienent but they suck. I was referring to columbia powersports in Columbia SC, didnt know about the one at Lake Norman, May have to check them out. But  with fuel prices its hard to pass up 1/2 mile drive.

Thanks guys, I forgot about the fogging lens. I meant the Maintance light. The dealer shuts it off for free, but I figure I'd get some other things done along with the 4wd switch.

What is the story with the fogged speedo? Anyone had the plastic hook thing on the gas tank protector break?

I don't know the story, but after mine runs for a while (30-45 minutes straight) it fogs up. I don't know what you mean about the plastic hook thing. If mine broke, I don't miss it. haha

My plastic hook broke in 2006.  I used some zip ties to keep it in place and have had no problems since.  If the dealer puts a new piece on, the plastic hook will most likely break again.
