Fellas, thought these pics of just the tubing pulled outta the quad might help clarify where to cut. I think DaveB had taken some pics of his stealth snorkel installed on the quad, I cut a little more of the stock cvt inlet off.. but that made for a straight shot up to the pod which I prefered. This setup will run the pvc up under the pod with two to three inches of headroom above the inlet to spare. Hope this helps..

I did mine the same way using the 2-1/2" Fernco. Much easier this way and you can still keep all the guts of the existing intake shield.

with the parts I used there's no way to have it point down. Not quite enough room. Leave out the second elbow and you might be able to, although it might be really tight. I had thought of having it point down to keep water from going over the top.. but the pod itself will push water over the top and keep it outta the inlet just fine. I won't be going deep with my rig, this is mostly to keep snow dust out when i winter ride, but also wanted it done for any river riding up north of here.

you'll probably lose some snap having the cvt intake in the same "air pocket" as the engine intake, each competing for the same air with the cvt winning the competition. I did.CVT sucks alot of air.Had to put the cvt one up & over, taking its air from the other side. That vent could help some but not enough imo.I think that's why brp put it so low..... to keep it away from the engine air intake.

JP800 thats exactly how I did my CVT exhaust as well. But I took my air intakes out and up through the fenders. Trying to stick 3-2" pipes into a 4" area just want work. Believe mye I tried. I ended up w/the CVT exhaust stealth and the other 2 w/a traditional snorkle.

Guys, wanted to make sure I let you know not to cut anything until you test fit! My cvt snorkel design is setup to work with a relocated airbox inlet, something I didn't mention. With the cvt coming straight up from the tube itself, if you want to use the stock airbox inlet the two will interfere. You could cut back the airbox inlet a bit and go this route, or you could run a few more elbows and run around the airbox inlet. Your choice. I ran the airbox scoop from the top of the airbox. So it was completelly out of the way when i routed the cvt inlet. Just wanted to get that out there... :)

What did you end up doing? Using elbows to work around the airbox scoop? The way I see it, you were almost better off doing it that way.. I cut my cvt tube several times trying to get a good point where I knew the coupler would slip off but the only spot I felt it would stay on was a little further down where I cut in the pics. So even if you came up, used a 45 to go around the airbox inlet, you should have still been in good shape. Drop me a pm and let me know how it worked out.

Did you guys have any trouble with the stock cvt intake collapsing when you tightened the rubber adapter? I did but didn't notice it until doing something else and having the snork pop off. I fixed it by inserting a 2.5" pipe inside the plastic stock intake where I cut it and into the rubber adapter for a tight seal.:2cent:

i didn't , but i didn't over torque it either . i just got it tight enough that it wouldn't come off & that water wouldn't get in . i think its tight enough ?

Is this on the 08 models???
I looked a little bit at my buddies 06 model and they look to be ran a little different stock than the 08's....

I'm not going to be able to work on mine till next month so I will investigate further...
We ride water quite a bit, although mainly not very deep but deep enough that I want to have the added insurance of a snorkle.... And some places are even too deep to ride even snorkled in my opinion, or atleast with the "stealth" kind.. and I'm not wanting it to be any other way.
I had it "traditional style" on my 04.5 popo and didnt like having them sticking up everywhere...

This is the "stealth" snorkel set up, short snorkels. When the plastics are back on you can't see it, but allows you to get in the water up to your knees safely, hopefully.

For the guys that actually need a skidoo or a submarine, they run the snorkels all the way thru the front plastics and up about 18 inches or more in some cases.
