Don't know if anybody has one but keep in mind if you had a drunk driving violation they might not let you over the border. I have a buddy who ran into that when he was on vacation. Don't want to see any member have a surprise in store for them when they hit the border ready to go ATVing.

Wow after Braveheart's post, I did some checking. Here's what I found.

US State Dept:
Driving while impaired (DWI) is a serious offense in Canada. Penalties are heavy, and any prior conviction (no matter how long ago or how minor the infraction) is grounds for exclusion from Canada. Americans with a DWI record must seek a waiver of exclusion from Canadian authorities before traveling to Canada, see http://www.cbsa.gc.ca, which requires several weeks or months to process.

From Border Crossings and Customs Advice:

Special Advisory To Those Convicted of DWI In The USA: Canadian authorities are reported to be refusing admission to drivers with a DWI conviction in the USA. Such records are immediately available on Canada Immigration computers and may show convictions as far back as 20 years ago. Those with such convictions may be able to get a waiver for up to 30 days visitation upon payment of a $200 (Canadian) fee. A single DWI conviction may be permanently expunged from the Canadian computers for payment of $400 (Canadian). Canadian officials are reported justifying the fees because they feel DWI is a serious crime and it is a way of keeping "undesirables" out of Canada. The law, which has been in effect since 1978, has not been evenly or consistently enforced. However, reports in October 1999 indicate more and more drivers with USA DWI conviction records are being refused admission to Canada without paying extra fees.

Pretty sure this is going to be a real problem here guys :pu:

Wow- I never would have imagined that they would pull something like that if it was more than a few years old. The price they want to "forget" the incident is crazy as well.
For you guys that are planning on this trip I wish you the best of luck.

I had the same problem crossing into the states a few years back. I was hauling a tanker into New York State and the border guard asked me if I had a criminal record. I said no but they came back with a DWI from when I was 17. After waiting 30 minutes or so they said it would have saved alot of time if I was just honest in the first place.

As far as I know they dont really bother you unless it is very recent. I know I have many American friends that cross 10 times a summer fishing and such that have prior's and get let through.

I would agree with Kesa's post. If you are upfront with them they will useally cut some slack...after all there are economic factors involved and its not like your coming bringing contraband and wearing towels on your heads. They likely only ask the nature of your visit , length of stay and wish you a good vacation.:2cent:

Sorry just found this site about a week ago.  I am inpressed with the site, it has everthing I need to maintain my machines and talk to others.  As i am from oliver paipoonge i have been up those roads before but never the backway to ouimet cannon.  I have been looking for runs in our area like the one that is being organized, for some time now. it sounds like fun.  Hope there is a good turn out and that another is organized soon.

3 of us are at the TravelLodge. 2 at KOA so far......
BTW I talked with mrs cememnthead yesterday and it's unanimous here, the 5 of us don't want 10 hour ride. We are all too old and fat.. lol....5,6 hours would be cool so maybe meet at the original start point?.

Not a problem on the length of the ride. We just wanted to make sure that it was worth your while. I am old fat guy too, but I ride a Can Am with Crutchfields, so 10 hours would be a piece of cake.;-) Give me an idea on how long you want to be out on the trail and I can customize to that.

Oops, sorry I misssed that on your previous post. If there are only a few of you out of towners, likely we can start right from my house. As far as I know there are only 5 of you coming up. I have ample parking in my yard for that.  Which Travel Lodge are you staying at. Is it on Memorial or on Arthur Street? Do you have a Garmin GPS, I can upload some maps and trails onto?
