Just purchased an o8 500XT camo bike.  Rode it for the first time on 6-7-08.  Had my buddy take my 2004 Sprotsman 500 HO and I was somewhat disappointed.  The 500XT can not ride in any water.  The belt was consistently slipping as my Sportsman was driving circles around me in the water.  The power on the 500XT is better than the Sportsman, but the belt slippage is a concern.

The only other issue I have with this bike is that the motor on the right side is right exposed to your foot and gets very hot......this is not the case on the Sportsman.

If anyone has a remedy for keeping the drive system water free please fill me in.  The water was only a couple of inches above the foot rest.

Take it back to dealer and get them to seal it up. The 08's were supposed to have the newly updated rear CVT cover, like they put into mine and I have no more water trouble. Something must have gone wrong at the time of assembley. Take it to your dealer an get they fix it under warranty.

Just did the Stealth snorkel on my 500. Give it some time and I will report back to see if the $20.00 in parts helped. Show this to your PoPo budy.
