not far from my outty... it seems outtys diff from each other in speed... mine i can get up to maybe 65.. thats pushing it on a slight downhill slope.... and it has around 380 miles on it.. so its barely vroke in good.. but id say the brute gets there a whole heck of a lot faster than my lil 400 :sm:

Thanks for an honest answer. So many people are grossly exaggerating their top speeds. I have hit right around 57 on my 400 Outty by the speedo and I see guys claiming 65 or they say on a slight downhill etc.....

I dont care what kinda bike you got anything with alot of power and big tires is going to do great in the mud. Its 30% machine 70% human when your in the mud pit.

My 750 Brute would run about 68-70 mph stock.

Well here are my speeds..................

I just bought 2 new 07 brutes, a 750 and the other a 650I and after 3 - 400 miles

on them the 750 will do 68 (speedo) and the GPS reads 3.5 mph slower.

The 650 does a little better and has hit 70 (speedo) I have not put the GPS on it but I assume since we ride side by side it too is 3.5 mph slower than the speedo.

BTW I did say the 650i is faster than the 750.......The 750 will take it from the start but the wife slowly will catch me and pass me at top end:cry:.

Maybe it's because she doesn't weigh as much?  At 230 lbs, I am easily 80 pounds heaver than my wife.

Opened up my Outy 800XT with a BF 750 last year on a frontage road, we both hit 68mph.  That's fast enough, but going to try top end just one more time once the valves are adjusted, got 2800 miles on them the way they are now.  That will probably be the last time I do it cause I really don't trust any utility quad to be sitting on it goin' that fast.  (The XT package, bumpers, winch, bigger tires and handguards increase the weight over the std Outy 800 by 70 lbs.)

The fastest any Outy or Renegade will go is about 80 if it's really tweaked.  Rev limiter kicks in at 8000.

I hear that the AC Thundercat 1000 tops out at 75 mph, then the rev limiter kicks in.  Who knows, there were only 4 prototypes out when I heard that.  Don't know if they're in production yet or not.

Had my 05 Brute up to 68 once !
On asphalt, flat road
stock tires
front half of plastic off of it ..I was tweaking the carbs and having the plastic off makes it easier to work on.

I ran out of road...but seriously doubt I could have gotten more out of it.  She was pretty wound out.  Wasn't gaining for a bit before I had to hit the binders.

Agree with others....that speed is scary fast on a quad.  But you gotta try sometimes...just to see !
